The Philadelphia Alliance to Restore School Librarians is dedicated to working with the School District of Philadelphia (SDP) to restore libraries staffed with certified teacher librarians in all district-operated schools.
We believe that all Philadelphia’s students need the following to grow and learn:
- the leadership, instruction, and management of a certified school librarian;
- a safe, inclusive, inviting, and dedicated library space;
- a diverse and up-to-date collection designed to inspire the joy of reading with children and allow them to see themselves reflected in texts while also opening up other worlds to them;
- technologies to access and create information; and
- a planned curriculum of information, inquiry, and media instruction that empowers students with the skills and attitudes for their personal, social, and academic growth.
The work of PARSL is carried out entirely by volunteers (now over 800 individuals), but there are expenses that require funding. EveryLibrary Institute, as PARSL’s fiscal sponsor, is assisting us to collect tax-deductible donations. EveryLibrary is also providing pro bono consulting to PARSL, but the group needs financial assistance to support its ongoing operations.
Your donations will fund:
- Fees to participate in Philadelphia-based community fairs, festivals, and events to share our work and garner more support and supplies to engage in those local fairs and festivals;
- Copying and printing, as well as mailing costs, to share our White Paper, bookmarks, and other PARSL literature;
- Technology fees, including our website URL and Google Workspace account; and
- Potential travel for advocacy presentations to Harrisburg or elsewhere.
No donations will be used to pay for the time or administration of PARSL by the Core Planning Team or other PARSL members, as we are all volunteering our time.
Your receipt for this tax-exempt donation will be from the EveryLibrary Institute but be assured that all donations will be allocated to the PARSL Project.
You may donate by check or money order (US Funds only) made out to:
