The Philadelphia Alliance to Restore School Librarians (PARSL) has launched a Candidate Questionnaire asking all registered candidates for Mayor and City Council on the May 2023 ballot to share their opinions about school libraries and education in Philadelphia. As a grassroots group membership of over 200 parents, educators, citizens, and business people, PARSL is in a unique position to ask. We believe that access to school libraries and school librarians is a social justice and educational equity issue. 

This questionnaire aims to learn the opinions of our future elected officials on school library services and instruction for our city students. All responses to this non-partisan survey will be made available to our members and others via media outlets.

The survey is open from Tuesday, March 21 until Friday, March 31 online. Official candidates have received an invitation to participate by email. If you are a candidate for office in Philadelphia and have not, please email [email protected] by March 30, 2023 and a link will be forwarded to you.
